Jackson County enjoys one of the most dynamic, growing economies in the United States. One of the fastest growing counties in the country since the late 90's, the diversity of the Jackson County economy helps mitigate swings experienced by the broader national economy in the 21st century.
Jackson County Attractions
Chateau Elan
Within the sweeping panorama of the north Georgia foothills, just 40 minutes north of Atlanta but a world away from the bustling city is Château Élan Winery & Resort. Here on 3,500 acres, French provincial and Southern hospitality combine to produce a superb leisure resort and conference destination.
Atlanta Dragway
Atlanta Dragway was built in 1975 by Gene Bennett and originally had been graded out for an airport. The original airport tower served as the original timing tower, and the track direction was the same as the airport without asphalt, just Georgia red clay. In 1980, the track was sold to Norman Pearah and became an NHRA-sanctioned track. Back then, the track was only opened twice a year for major events.
Sandy Creek Golf Course
Sandy Creek Golf Course, located just minutes from I-85 & Hwy. 441, is an 18 hole championship layout measuring just over 7,000 yards. Generous landing areas, greens that roll true, and tees to accommodate everyone make this North Georgia gem the area's best kept secret.
Crawford W. Long Museum
The Pendergrass Store Building also include a replica of a 19th century General Store and serves as the performance area for Museum programs such as storytelling, craft and historical demonstrations. A display of ledgers and daybooks from the original store offers visitors a unique view into the life of the 19th century citizen. Join us for an afternoon or evening of tall tales and folk music.
